Maidstone | Relieved United Look To Future

Jason Hopkinson has rapidly incited his concern to next period after Hastings United's slight elude from the drop.

The U's defended their Ryman Premier position on objective disparity after a nail-biting final day of the season. A win would have staid everybody's nerves at The Pilot Field final Saturday but Hastings were battered 3-2 by Aveley.

Ultimately, the better frequency mattered in the context of who went down as Maidstone United - the usually group that positively could have held Hastings - moreover mislaid divided to AFC Hornchurch.

"We've already had a small talk about next season, about what we're going to do," suggested Hastings executive Hopkinson.

"We're going to encounter up with the chairperson sincerely quickly," he went on. "We've got to pick out a couple of players - Harry Beautyman and George Porter (two loan signings who tender during the second half of the season) won't be with us so you are of course going to reinstate them.

"We need a small bit more experience in established areas but you do not wish to change it as well sufficient since it's not a bad group of players. We've just got to lay down and talk to them and see how it goes."

Although Hopkinson finally directed Hastings coherent of the tumble zone, there may be no evading that this has been a hugely unsatisfactory season, quite in light of all positive noises being done final summer.

After a splendid start, the promotion simply free and a by a the new signings all over followed by Hopkinson's predecessor, Tony Dolby, at the finish of final year.

Hopkinson had to breeze in a horde of new players and notwithstanding an unexcited finish to the period that saw them pick up usually 6 points from their final 8 games, the U's did just enough to wand off the spook of relegation.

"It was surely wonderful you stayed up but I would have elite it if you had done it," mentioned Hopkinson referring ! to Maids tone's disaster to take value of the Aveley defeat. "But you have done it in other games."
