"With a lot of young guys in the set-up it's a great feeling to obtain the initial win beneath the belt," batsman Martin outpost Jaarsveld told BBC Radio Kent.

It was usually Kent's second feat of the period in any format of the game.

They were narrowly battered by Worcestershire in the Clydesdale Bank 40 on Sunday, and have mislaid both matches they have played in the County Championship.

Van Jaarsveld said: "We took the gait off the ball, got a couple of early wickets and the round starting reversing a small bit later.

"I considered [bowler] Ashley Shaw was excellent and it was a great plain all-round opening in the field.

"We limited them to 170 on what was may a 220 wicket and then you batted flattering well to obtain the runs really quickly."

Kent will hope to erect on Monday's win when they lapse to championship action on Wednesday at home to Northamptonshire.

But with skipper Rob Key nursing a painful thumb, Van Jaarsveld believes it will be a tough task.
